Parlo pays people who bring it customers. The deal is simple enough to fit in one sentence: you earn 20% of Parlo’s margin on every purchase made by anyone who joined with your code, for as long as they keep buying. This guide explains each word of that sentence, because the difference between “20% of the margin” and “20% of the price” is the difference between a realistic expectation and a disappointed one.
Getting your code
There are two ways, and they give you the same code.
- On Telegram, send
/referto @askparlo_bot. It replies with your code, your share link, how many people have joined through you, and what you have earned so far. - On WhatsApp or Telegram, just ask: “send me my referral code”. The concierge answers with the code and the same figures.
The code is six characters. The share link looks like t.me/askparlo_bot?start=ref_XXXXXX. There is nothing to sign up for; a code is created the first time you ask.
How a friend joins with it
- They open your link. Telegram starts the chat and the code is claimed automatically. The bot greets them with a note that they arrived through you.
- Or they tell the concierge on either channel: “I have a referral code XXXXXX”. The code is claimed the same way.
A person can claim one code, once, and it is permanent. If they already used Parlo before entering a code, the claim still counts from that point on. You cannot claim your own code, and a code claimed by an account that turns out to be the same person is rejected.
Your friend gets nothing off their price for using a code. The programme is a share for the referrer, not a discount for the referee, so there is no reason to enter a code other than to help the person who sent it. Say that plainly when you share it; it is the truth and it works better than pretending otherwise.
What “20% of the margin” means in money
Parlo buys airtime, gift cards, fares and rooms from wholesale suppliers and sells them at a marked-up price. The margin is the gap. It is a small share of the price on cheap, competitive products and a larger one on expensive ones. Your 20% is taken from that gap, not from what your friend paid.
Two illustrative numbers, to set expectations rather than promise them. On a 10 dirham top-up, the whole margin is a few cents, and your share is a fraction of a cent to a couple of cents. On a flight or a hotel night worth a few hundred euros, a share can be a euro or two. Referrals pay in proportion to how much your friends spend and on what, and the concierge shows you every earning as a line item: which purchase, which friend, how much.
Because the share is for life, the maths favours people who bring regular users: a family that tops up home every week is worth far more than ten people who try it once.
How you are paid
- Each earning is added to your Parlo balance as credit, and you receive a message saying what you earned and from which purchase.
- Credit is spendable on anything Parlo sells, for any recipient. Many referrers simply top up their own family from it.
- Cash-out to PayPal or a bank is not available yet. It is planned, but until it ships, earnings are credit. If that makes the programme uninteresting to you, that is a fair conclusion and we would rather you knew now.
- If a purchase is refunded, the earning on it is reversed.
Where to share it
The link is a normal URL, so it goes anywhere a link goes: a family WhatsApp group, a community Facebook page, a message to the people you already send airtime for. The people most likely to keep using Parlo are the ones who already send top-ups abroad regularly and are paying more than they need to through other apps. If you want to show them the difference, the blog has a guide to comparing recharge prices and the capability pages show live prices per corridor.
What the programme is not
- Not a sign-up bonus. Nobody is paid for a person who joins and never buys.
- Not an affiliate scheme with tiers, links per campaign or negotiated rates. One code, one rate, for everyone.
- Not a way to sell recharges yourself. If you take cash from customers and buy for their numbers, you are a distributor, and the reseller programme exists for exactly that, with a wholesale discount instead of a referral share.
